Travel & Street Photography Recap IV
It was not before the 20th of December that I decided to slow down. I have spent three and a half months on the road, visiting several places, from remote Greek islands to the city that Lee Harvey Oswald lived for a while, from a rural Armenia tour to a post-apocalyptic town in Georgia. I had to fly a minimum of one time per week (sometimes even two or three times). This sounds like a dream, and indeed it is. But every dream has its dark side, too: I was feeling exhausted.
At the end of November, I traveled to Tallinn, and I stayed there until the first days of December. Tallinn is a high-tech city with a very relaxed atmosphere. At times the city seemed to be pretty dead, though. But its medieval Old Town is really unique; therefore, I encourage you to visit Tallinn if you have the chance.
After spending a couple of days in Berlin, I traveled to Switzerland. I always wanted to travel there, but it seemed to be totally unaffordable. I have heard stories about the high cost of living and how you can go broke in no time. All those stories proved to be true: this is a very expensive country. But what a beautiful country, Switzerland is! In this travel recap, you will see photos from Lucerne. I have so many posts about Switzerland that it will take some time to upload them. In next month’s recap, you will see even more photos from Switzerland, though. I also visited Winterthur, Sankt Gallen, and of course, the marvelous Zurich.
And then, after the journey around Switzerland came to an end, I decided to slow down. Initially, I wanted to travel to Kiev, but I saved this for 2019. I preferred to spend a couple of days in Berlin instead. During Christmas, Berlin is one of the nicest places to be. Berlin is illuminated, and the Christmas Markets are beautiful. This was the first time in four months that I stayed in one place for more than 10 days. I also didn’t have to take a flight for two weeks in a row.
So, here is my December 2018 recap. All the photos that you are about to see here are taken with the Ricoh GRii camera.

Travel & Street Photography Recap IV, December 2018
Tallinn, Estonia
The days were really gloomy in Tallinn, and I also saw snow for the first time this winter. The sun wouldn’t rise before 8:30, and shortly past 3 pm, it was sunset time already. It proved to be very hard to shoot some decent photos, but here you can see a couple of them anyway 🙂

Lucerne, Switzerland
I promised myself that if I ever write a detective novel, this should take place in Lucerne. Don’t get me wrong; there is nothing dodgy here. But the truth is that Lucerne has an outstanding landscape and an atmosphere that you can’t find easily elsewhere. It is one of the most beautiful cities I’ve ever seen, and I would love to return here soon. Unfortunately, it is also costly.

Berlin, Germany
I had some easy-going days in Berlin. For a couple of days, I was really lazy: I would meet with friends, I would take long walks with the camera, and I would sleep. It was nice to catch up, though, with all things Berlin. The Christmas Markets seemed to be less full this year. I had some delicious food, and I also met new people. The next time I will have so much time in Berlin will be during the Berlinale.
