Travel & Street Photography Recap 13
I have spent a good part of October in Berlin. Although after my return from Anafi I spent a couple of days in Athens to take care of my new book (it’ll be in Greek, I’ll write more about it within the next months) I soon had to return to Berlin. I’m writing the Travel & Street Photography recap 13 under gloomy skies, and my vacation in Anafi is a memory -but not a distant one, at least. But in October, I also got back on track with the blog, posting more and launching two new sections.
The first one is the Polaroid Diaries. As you probably remember from my last month’s recap, I have already written a long post about instant photography. During the summertime, I decided that I’d love to take more photos with instant cameras. I have never owned a polaroid camera so far, so I bought the Polaroid Onestep+. Polaroid cameras are challenging: the settings can be tricky, but I always found the results fascinating. My brand new Polaroid arrived just on time, shortly before going on vacation, and I took it with me. The light in Anafi is harsh, so I thought that I could push the camera to its limits and experiment a bit. And that’s how the Polaroid Diaries were born.
As for the second section, well, this deals with photography. Shortly before reaching the first milestone of my travel blog, i.e., the first anniversary, I reached out to my mailing list. This blog is (and will always be) oriented to the people reading it, therefore I wanted to know what the people following me would like to see. While more than 90% asked for more Letters to Barbara travelogues, people also asked me for more photo-reports. In other words, more photos and less text. In October, I uploaded the first report: Ferry Tales. So, in Ferry Tales, I documented the slow journey to Anafi with an old ferry.
Other than that, in October, I kept working on some posts that you will soon see in the blog, and I’m also working on a new ebook. Plus, I’m currently planning my next year’s journeys.
October 2019 posts

I uploaded eight posts in October. As I said, it was time for me to get back on track after my vacation and start working again. So, let’s see what you can find on the blog this month.
First of all, I posted the first entries of my Polaroid diaries. More specifically, I posted the polaroids from Anafi, where I tested the OneStep+ under a harsh light. The experiments satisfied me and made me optimistic about what I can present to you in the future. I have also posted my polaroids from Santorini. I have only spent one morning there, and I tried to find some interesting angles. The sun (and the light) was intense on the island, so I had to experiment further.
Then, I posted my guide with the things to do in Poznan. As I’ve written in my travelogue from Poznan, this small Polish city is very charming. There aren’t countless things to do in Poznan, but it definitely deserves a visit.
October 2019 seems like a period for new beginnings. Apart from my Polaroid Diaries, I have also started a sub-section in Photography. The Ferry Tales is a travel report from a slow journey with an old Greek boat. I tried to capture both the passengers and the interior of the Prevelis ferry on my way to Anafi. This resulted in 20 photos, and the post itself has significantly less text than usual.
This month, I have also posted a new entry about Berlin. Every October, the famous Festival of Lights takes place in Berlin. I wrote a detailed post and included loads of photos. You can see it here.
Last but not least, I finally uploaded my long travelogue from Prague. It wasn’t my first time in Prague, but this time, I could explore it a bit more. I have more posts about Prague, so stay tuned.
So, if in these five posts you add last month’s recap and the one that you are currently reading, the posts of October are eight. November will be eventful, too, but I will probably post a bit less due to traveling, not more than 4-5 entries.
What’s on the travel & street photography recap 13
On the travel & street photography recap 13, you will see photos from Prague. While Anafi is my most recent journey, I have traveled to Prague back in spring. I have plenty of photos from Prague, and today I’m presenting some of them here. A couple of articles about both Prague and Anafi will follow soon, so be on the watch out. Plus, if you are a fan of Franz Kafka, you don’t want to miss one of my upcoming posts.
Photos from Prague
Prague is an impressive city. It seems bigger than it really is, maybe because it’s packed all year long. Mass tourism is definitely destroying the historical center of the city, but there are a couple of areas just off the main attractions that maintain their flair. I also uploaded a long travelogue about Prague -you can read it here.
