Travel Photography Recap, September 2018

September was a month dedicated to Greece. I traveled extensively around the Greek islands and wrote a lot about them, too. Apart from writing, I took loads of photos that unfortunately didn’t make it in the posts. The reason was simple: adding too many photos in the posts would affect the reading experience. There were photos that I really liked, but I thought that they wouldn’t contribute to the text itself. In travel writing, I think it’s more important to take photos that represent the place instead of posting great pictures that have little to do with the destination. That said, travel photography should add an extra touch to the writing.

Having that in mind, I thought of adding an extra section every month dedicated purely to travel photography. In this post, the text is almost absent. All you are going to see is some short captions about the place that the photo was shot, plus a link to the travel writing articles. But, no matter what, this is my visual diary of the month.

So, let’s start.

Schinoussa, Greece

Schinoussa was the first island I visited. I spent six days on the island, and I must admit that it has some of Greece’s best beaches. I shot the photos from Schinoussa under harsh sunlight.

Sikinos, Greece

After visiting Schinoussa, I took the ferry back to Naxos, and from there, I traveled, again by ferry, to Sikinos. When I arrived in Sikinos, I was not that impressed. But slowly, the island revealed its beauty.

Anafi, Greece

Last, but of course, not least, I visited once again Anafi. I can’t have enough of this island. I tried to visit even more places, and I discovered even more of its beauty. The photo on the very top of this post is also from Anafi.

Did you know that I have written a book about Anafi? You can learn more about it here.

Next month there will be definitely less sea (if any) and more odd places. Stay tuned.
