TRAVEL RESOURCES

The best websites to visit before traveling

Divine Anafi Monolith

Travel resources for planning your journeys

This is a short list of the travel resources I use whenever I want to plan a journey. I have used all these websites for a long time now, and I am delighted with their services. In my honest opinion, they are by far the best ones, and I can recommend them without second thoughts. Before traveling, I always use these resources to find a hotel, book my air tickets, seek useful information about the destination, or buy travel books and gear. You should, however, use those websites only if they fit your needs.

Some of the links are affiliate links. It means that I might earn a small commission if you buy products or services from these websites at no additional cost to you. I have also written a short Affiliate Disclaimer; feel free to check it out.

Accommodation

Travel Resources- Booking.com

When it comes to booking a hotel, this is hands down my favorite website. I have been using Booking.com for several years, and it’s by far the best option for finding a hotel. Tons of filters and great search options.

Air tickets

Travel resources-momondo

I book all my air tickets lately via Momondo. It has an extremely easy-to-use user interface, and you can always find the best way to fly to your destination in the best possible way. Furthermore, they do actually have the best deals out there; therefore, you can always save money. Recommended.

Travel resources-google-flights

Google flights is another tool that I use pretty often. It is very helpful because you can check all the possible ways to arrive at a destination. I don’t, however, book my tickets from them, mainly because there is -almost always- a price difference when you are redirected to the Airline’s website.

Ferries

Ferries in Greece

When it comes to ferries, I always book my tickets via FerriesInGreece. This is, for me, the best website for many reasons. First of all, it’s always up-to-date. Second, you have the option to book multiple routes. Third, there is an option for finding connections when there is no direct ferry to your destination. Recommended.

Cars

rentalcars.com book a car

Having a car is often really important when traveling abroad: you are flexible and don’t depend on public transport. I always use Rental Car Connect for renting a car abroad. It has never let me down, and I can definitely recommend it.

Gear and travel books

travel resources-amazon.com

Amazon.com is probably the most up-to-date website of the Amazon chain. I always search there for products before traveling. The only reason not to buy a product from them is that there might be an added tax for sending it to the EU. Therefore, I include the German Amazon, too.

Travel resources-amazon.de

Whenever I can’t order something from the American Amazon, I always head to the German counterpart. In my personal opinion, the German Amazon has the widest variety and the best prices from all the European stores. However, if German scares you, there is an English version of the website.

Planning

Travel resources-Wikitravel

Besides reading travel guides and blogs, I always check Wikitravel before traveling. It’s an excellent database of destination guides, including valuable tips (such as Stay Safe, Respect, Cope, etc.). It is totally free and has given me great ideas for my journeys. Plus, it’s available in several languages.

Start your own Travel Blog!

Last but not least, this is the best website for starting your travel blog (or any blog in general!) I’m talking obviously about Bluehost, the platform I used to create the website you are currently reading. It has a straightforward interface, free WordPress integration, excellent customer support, and many special features. I have also created a guide to help you start a travel blog.

So, this was the Travel Resources page, and I hope you found it useful. Whenever I start using a new service, I will add it to the list, so check it out every once in a while. You can also see my Travel Gear -or continue browsing the blog 🙂
