Travel & Street Photography Recap 10
We’re now in the heart of summer, and the truth is that I’ve been looking forward to July all winter long. If you are born and raised in the Mediterranean, you know exactly what summer really means: warm days, nights out and a certain degree of laziness. July is the month of my birthday but also the month that I usually return to Greece. I’m actually writing the travel and street photography recap 10 in Athens.
The truth is that I’ve been looking forward to the summer because I thought I’d relax a bit. But somehow, the travel blog keeps me occupied. As you might remember from last month’s recap, I started an online store. Creating a fully functional online shop though is a challenging task, but I’m glad to say that everything runs smoothly now. Make sure to check it out.
In July, I also had the chance to go on a short vacation. I visited the wonderful island of Astypalaia in the Aegean Sea. Due to its unique shape, Astypalaia is also called the Butterfly of the Aegean. I had a wonderful week there, and I wished I could stay longer. I’ve written a lot in Astypalaia, and since this is a summer destination, I wrote two blog posts. The first one is an extensive travel report from Astypalaia, where I narrate stories and impressions. The second one is a comprehensive guide to Astypalaia with info about the beaches and the things you can do in Astypalaia.
July’s posts

Apart from the posts from Astypalaia, this month I also uploaded two more texts.
Although I traveled to Sicily a few months ago, it was only in July that I finally managed to post everything I’ve written about it. One of the most impressive cities I’ve ever seen in Europe is Syracuse. It was love at first sight. The city of Syracuse, with its eternal light and the beautiful island of Ortigia, is definitely a highlight of my journeys so far. I even thought of relocating in Syracuse -no kidding. You can read my travelogue from Syracuse, and you can judge for yourself.
Sicily was full of surprises and exciting things to do, and the second post of July was about a wonderful experience. During my stay in Sicily, I took a tour to Mount Etna, Europe’s most famous volcano. Although I am a dedicated solo traveler, I also understand that I can’t go everywhere on my own. I used a tour operator for my experience in Mount Etna, and the truth is that I don’t regret it. You can read a full recap of my Etna experience here.
My plans for summer 2019
I’m currently working on some new projects that you will see them soon, within the next couple of months actually. If you’ve been following my travel blog for a while now, you already know that I’m working on some e-books. Writing is a slow process, but I do think that soon, you will be able to read them.
Due to my work schedule, I don’t think that I’ll be on vacation any time soon. I will actually try to go somewhere in September or even in October. That’s alright with me though because it also means that I can spend some time with my friends and family.
Last, but definitely not least, I’m planning some giveaways. The end of September marks the first anniversary of the Letters To Barbara and planning giveaways is my way to thank each one of you for helping this website grow. Follow me on Social Media and stay tuned!
I just finished my Instagram ebook
One of the projects that I finally finished this month was my ebook about Instagram. I’ve written a comprehensive guide on how to grow your Instagram account and how to work with brands. It’s a 44-pages ebook in PDF format and has loads of tips that will help you to grow your IG account. It’s already on my travel store, and you can buy it here.
What’s on the travel & street photography recap 10
In the travel and street photography recap 10, you will see photos from Syracuse and Astypalaia. July is a summer month, so I thought that showing pictures from the sea is a good idea.
Once again, all the photos that you are going to see here are shot with the Ricoh GR ii camera.
Astypalaia
The little island of Astypalaia turned out to be a magnificent experience. It’s an island with great beaches and fantastic people. Spending a week there made me happy beyond words, and I can highly recommend a visit.

Syracuse
As you’ve read, Syracuse is one of the biggest travel surprises of this blog. The landscape is stunning, and this is definitely one of the places that I’d like to return soon.

The photos in this post are both inspiring and beautiful. Cheers!
Thank you very much, Tash 🙂
Wonderful images, George and Syracuse is now on my travel wish list.
Hello, dear Juan. Thanks a lot! Syracuse is one of the most beautiful places I ever visited. I think you will love it there. I tried to cover a good part of Eastern Sicily on this journey, but next time I’ll make sure to have more time there. You should try to visit it in the future -you’ll shoot loads of photos!
