Travel & Street Photography Recap V

Travel & Street Photography Recap V

It was a hectic time. Composing the Travel & Street Photography Recap V was indeed challenging. As I mentioned in my previous recap, I started feeling exhausted. Traveling is fun, but the truth is that too much traveling can be tiring.

The first journey of the year was in Poland. I have visited two cities, Warsaw and Krakow, even though there was a last-minute change of plans. Then, I initially wanted to visit Romania, but this never happened. I got sick, and I had to cancel the journey. Nothing serious, but still I caught a severe shortly before traveling. I had to stay in bed for a couple of days (but I still managed to work on the blog). Constant fever and a terrible cough accompanied me till the beginning of February.

Although I felt desperate to travel, I knew that I had to take a break. Plus, I had some plans in Berlin that looked exciting. You see, I was looking forward to attending one more Berlinale, the world-famous International Film Festival of Berlin. The days I had to stay in bed, I wrote something that turned out to be the most thorough Berlinale guide on the Internet. It was a 4,000 words article, full of tips and info about the festival. Shortly after I published it, it reached the first page of Google results.

This caused some chain reaction. Apart from the massive traffic that brought to the Letters To Barbara, it also received attention from the local media. I even gave an interview on the German rbb radio. And then, the Berlinale started, and as I do every year, I spend all the days in the cinemas watching films. I also had the chance to talk to Tilda Swinton, and this was definitely a highlight. All my impressions ended up in another long article, the Berlinale 2019 diary. Click on the link and read everything I wrote about the movies, the stars, and life around the cinemas.

What’s on this travel & street photography recap V

I owe you a couple of photos from last month, plus a few new ones. First of all, you will see some images of Winterthur and Sankt Gallen in Switzerland. Last month, I also talked about Zurich, so this is also the post including some of the photos. Last but not least, since everything was about the Berlinale, I thought of including some of my Berlinale impressions.

So, here is my monthly recap. All the photos that you are about to see here are taken with the Ricoh GRii camera.

(More about this wonderful camera here.)

Winterthur, Switzerland

As I’ve written in my travel letter, Winterthur seemed to be a bit sleepy. Nonetheless, I had a nice time there, and the truth is that I had wonderful accommodation: I stayed in a cinema! Too bad that the weather was not that pleasant; therefore I couldn’t shoot the photos I imagined I would.

Sankt Gallen, Switzerland

Sankt Gallen is one of the most elegant cities I’ve ever seen. I was there just for a couple of hours, but still, I managed to take some photos. Next time I’ll be in Switzerland I will definitely spend a couple of days here too.

Zurich

Ah, Zurich, how beautiful you are! This is honestly one of the nicest cities I’ve ever visited. True, it’s very very expensive! But still, the Old Town of Zurich is a masterpiece. Although this is the heart of Switzerland, the city is diverse, and one can observe several subcultures. I would never expect that from a city in Switzerland. If I could afford the cost of life (unfortunately, I can’t) I would easily consider staying for a year or two in Zurich. There are so many things to discover!

Berlin/Berlinale

Well, February is always a Berlinale month. I have watched 11 editions of the Berlinale, and every time I can’t wait to watch the next one. Apparently, between the 7th and 17th of February, I was all day long in the cinemas -and late at night, I was writing. Here are some photos that didn’t appear in the Berlinale articles. I have also posted several videos on my Youtube Channel.
